![]() I have three Lencos here in various states. Mine's not bad, but I come at all these old auto decks with very low expectations and am then pleasantly surprised by how good they can actually be. We've discussed your rumbly Zero 100 a few times, but even when new, the figures honestly weren't very good and it was commented upon by UK reviewer Martin Colloms, who later praised the improvement in the SB version I recall. I'd be interested to see how these new grommets fare, but really, not sure you'll need to replace all three, as Garrard deliberately left one of these the original harder type (I think from memory it's the one nearest the platter edge). These softer grommets can sag with the years and motor drone through the speakers seems to increase exponentially here. ![]() The series 2 motors were suspended (as most Garrards were by this time) on two softer grommets and one harder one (the original type). The 'Series 2' version had a rounded rotor bottom tip acting on a thrust plate it seems, saving 1/4" or so in depth and actually, good examples barely vibrate at all. ![]() The original was a heavier deeper affair with a ball loded bottom bearing assembly - the four pole version rotor spun free for ages. The synchro lab motor went into at least two versions. ![]()
